'A recommendation opens the decision' is the line. AI can put you on the list, but only a human can choose you. Fame got brands noticed. In the AI era, being believed is what gets them picked.

THE BRAND AUDIT's avatar

Great article, Jen! You know I’m a big advocate of the emerging Trust Economy. One action I’d add to your list is investing in social listening.

Your point about brands being recommended in more situations than they realize is exactly why this matters. By conducting weekly or monthly audits of online conversations, brands can uncover unexpected use cases, emerging customer needs and opportunities they might otherwise miss.

And that intelligence shouldn’t just inform content strategy. It should inform product development and broader business strategy. The real value a lot of brands are missing with social listening isn’t just understanding what people are saying about your brand. It’s understanding where your brand could be relevant, but isn’t just yet.
